Make Faster than the Adversary

The form τάχιον is the comparative adverb of ταχέως (“quickly”), derived from the adjective ταχύς (“quick, swift”). It functions adverbially, meaning “more quickly” or “faster,” and is not used adjectivally.

The corresponding comparative adjective would be ταχύτερος (masc.), ταχυτέρα (fem.), or ταχύτερον (neut.), meaning “quicker” in attributive contexts. Thus, τάχιον modifies verbs rather than nouns, and its usage reflects degree of speed in manner, not quality. Every translation we looked at missed this and used it as an adjective which is incorrect.
