John 15:6

Ἐὰν μή τις μείνῃ ἐν ἐμοί, ἐβλήθη ἔξω ὡς τὸ κλῆμα, καὶ ἐξηράνθη, καὶ συνάγουσιν αὐτὰ καὶ εἰς τὸ πῦρ βάλλουσι, καὶ καίεται.

He Was Cast and Withered

If anyone should not remain within myself, he was cast outside just like the Vine Shoot, and he was dried up,^140c and they are assembling together themselves, and are casting into the Fire, and he is kindled.

Julia Smith Literal 1876 Translation:
If any remain not in me, he was cast forth as the branch, and was dried up; and they gather them together, and cast into the fire, and they are burned.

LITV Translation:
Unless one remains in Me, he is cast out as the branch and is dried up; and they gather and throw them into a fire, and they are burned.

ESV Translation:
If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.

All modern translations changed the past tense ἐβλήθη "was cast," and ἐξηράνθη "was dried up" to "is cast" to make the saying sound like a future tense. Even the KJV changed these words: "he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered;"

Others were even more mischievous:

"he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither," (Douay-Rheims Bible)

"he will be cast away, like a branch, and he will wither," (Catholic Public Domain Version)

The only ones we saw that preserved the truth were the LSV, YLT, and Julia Smith.
